Want to know how to cleans crystals? Just like your body and mind sometimes need a cleanse, you also need to do this for your crystals every now and then to get rid of whatever energies they might have absorbed and are now storing.
So, here’s the basics of looking after your little gems…
Salt Bath Cleanse
Grab yourself a big ass glass bowl – please not your metal mixing bowl.
Now technically you can use any salt for this practice but if it’s not good enough to eat, it’s not good enough for our crystals so get your hands on some quality rock salt or even better – Himalayan rock salt.
Fill that bowl with warm water and chuck in around a table spoon of salt. Mix it all together until it dissolves and drop your crystals into the water.
Let them sit for anywhere between 1 hour and 24 hours. The longer the better to make sure all the nasty shit is truly gone.
Once they’re well soaked, drain them off and rinse them really well under fresh water to make sure you’ve gotten all the salt residue off.
PLEASE REMEMBER not all crystals love this salt method. Some of them will actually start to melt so find another option if you’ve got Lapis Lazuli, Pyrite, Opal and Hematite.
Salt Bed Cleanse
This one reminds me of ordering fresh oysters because you basically lay all your crystals out on a bed of dry rock salt and let them do their thing for a few hours or a few days depending on how clogged you feel they are.
Once they’re done, chuck the salt out (never re-use it) and give your crystals a really good fresh water bath to get all that salt off.
WATCH OUT for those same crystals as above that won’t like this method at all.
Enough with the salt. The most common way to cleanse your smaller crystals is to rest them on top of a big cluster, druze, bed or geode and leave them to chill for a night under a full moon.
For best results, use a chunk of Amethyst or Clear Quartz as your cleanser so they can energise at the same time.
Due to smudge your house? Hit your crystals with that smoky goodness while you’re at it and save yourself some time. Hold your crystals in the smoke for about 30 seconds while thinking those happy thoughts and move on. Simple.
Fresh Water Energise
Now you’ve cleansed them, you need to recharge them to get that energy flowing again.
One method is to place them is fresh running water for about 20 minutes. Considering there’s a bit of a drought issue at the moment, please only do this if you’re able to use a creek. No one likes wasted water.
Make sure you double check how your crystal will react with water before you do this one though – again, melting is possible!
Solar or Luna Energise
Sunlight and Moonlight is pretty much the most straight forward way to energise your gems but seeing as some crystals fade in direct sunlight, we’ve found the moon a much safer and more calming option. Find a nice spot, lay them all out and then lady Luna work her magic.
So now your babies are cleansed and recharged, it’s time to put them to work by gridding your space which we’ll be blogging about shortly so make sure you Subscribe to stay up to date!
